Our standard retractable tarp uses the twin cable design which is simpler in design and reduces ongoing maintenance costs.
The front shaft is a 304 stainless polished bar and is mounted on a std pillow bearing or our proprietary bearing with an extruded alloy cover incorporating a sail track groove for mounting front of tarps.
The rear pulley brackets are a unique design and fully enclosed to ensure debris cannot penetrate and damage the bearing. In addition to this they guide the cable to the pulley so the cable will not throw because of small pebbles.
Our shaft is driven by a v belt with a handle mounted on front sheet that locks in 8 positions so the tarp can be always locked in a taught position.
The ribs come in many sizes and shapes to suit your needs and are made from 20 x 20 SHS 1.6 wall thickness which provides adequate strength but still remains light enough to not cause undue wear to the top alloy rails.
The rib ends (skids) are CNC cut from our exclusive UHMWE sheet in a natural white colour that has UV additive for long life. This product provides a low friction quality on the top rail and cable holes whilst performing well to wear ensuring the tarp operates smoothly and with minimal effort required.
Skids are straight and the operating cable height is only slightly above the top rail. Our unique L skids is used on the centre of our tarps in unison with the body clip to the lower cable in order to stop the tarps from lifting in the wind. This also stops the cable from damaging paintwork on the side rails.
The tarps are fabricated from 1 piece of fabric with no seams and all stitching is on a twin needle machine with extra heavy UV stable threads.
Our hems are folded twice with extra wear strip applied to underside providing a 4 layer edge which means they are extremely strong.
Our recommended tarp width is the internal body width + 100 mm. This means the super strong hem is the only part of tarp that contacts the body which minimises wear and tear down the sides of the tarp.
Tarps are drawn in CAD and cut on a 11M x 4M computer operated plotter. A drawing file number is located behind the top left corner of our Powertarp logo on the rear banner, this allows us to reproduce your tarp with no delays in the event of a mishap.
We only use the heaviest top quality mesh available and premium quality pvc from reputable suppliers so you have the best quality tarp available.
Prices are very similar for pvc or mesh so please let us know what sort of work you do and we can recommend the most suitable fabric.
We can add a roll down rear flap to cover rear space on pvc tarps for a more weather resistant cover. We also have a silicone coated fabric that is designed for hotmix, this fabric is very strong and extremely durable under high temperature conditions.
